Research Misconduct Policy

Universal Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity. The Journal does not tolerate research misconduct in any form and will investigate all allegations fairly, objectively, and confidentially.

1. Purpose

This policy establishes procedures for preventing, identifying, investigating, and responding to allegations of research misconduct in accordance with internationally recognized publication ethics.

2. Definition of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fabrication of data or results.
  • Falsification or manipulation of research data.
  • Plagiarism.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Citation manipulation.
  • Image manipulation.
  • Improper authorship or ghost authorship.
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Unethical research involving humans or animals.

3. Reporting Misconduct

Authors, reviewers, editors, or readers may report suspected research misconduct to the Editorial Office. Reports should include sufficient evidence whenever possible.

4. Investigation Procedure

Upon receiving an allegation, the Editor-in-Chief will conduct a preliminary assessment. If necessary, additional information may be requested from the authors or relevant institutions.

The Editorial Board may appoint independent experts to assist in the investigation.

5. Confidentiality

All allegations and investigations will be handled confidentially and fairly. Information will only be disclosed to individuals directly involved in the investigation.

6. Editorial Actions

If research misconduct is confirmed, the Journal may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Publish a correction.
  • Issue an Expression of Concern.
  • Retract the published article.
  • Notify the authors' institution or funding agency where appropriate.
  • Restrict future submissions from the responsible author(s) for a defined period.

7. Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their research.

Editors are responsible for handling allegations fairly and objectively.

Reviewers are encouraged to report suspected misconduct identified during peer review.

8. Good Research Practice

Universal Journal encourages authors to conduct research responsibly, maintain accurate records, preserve research data, and comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

9. International Standards

Universal Journal follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and research integrity, including the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
