Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Research Articles

This section publishes original research articles presenting novel findings, methodologies, theoretical developments, and practical applications across the journal's scope. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process and must meet the journal's standards for originality, scientific rigor, and publication ethics.

Case Studies

This section publishes case studies presenting practical experiences, institutional innovations, business cases, public policy implementations, educational practices, engineering applications, and other evidence-based analyses that contribute to scholarly knowledge.

Review Articles

This section publishes comprehensive review articles that critically evaluate and synthesize existing research, identify emerging trends, highlight research gaps, and provide future research directions. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.

Short Communications

This section publishes concise reports of significant research findings, preliminary results, innovative methods, or emerging issues that require rapid dissemination. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review.

Conference Papers

This section publishes selected conference papers that have been substantially revised and successfully passed the journal's double-blind peer review process prior to publication.

Technical Reports

This section publishes technical reports presenting applied research, engineering developments, technological innovations, software systems, prototypes, laboratory reports, industrial projects, policy implementation reports, and other technical contributions that provide practical value for academia, industry, and society. All submissions are evaluated through the journal's peer-review process to ensure scientific quality and technical accuracy.

Book Reviews

This section publishes critical and scholarly reviews of recently published academic books, reference works, edited volumes, and monographs relevant to the journal's scope. Reviews should evaluate the originality, methodology, scholarly contribution, and significance of the publication while providing constructive insights for researchers, educators, students, and professionals. All book reviews are subject to editorial assessment before publication.

E-Books

This section publishes scholarly electronic books (e-books), book chapters, monographs, textbooks, handbooks, lecture notes, conference books, and edited volumes relevant to the journal's aims and scope. All submissions must be original, properly referenced, and undergo editorial review to ensure academic quality, ethical compliance, and publishing standards. E-books may be assigned ISBN and DOI where applicable.

Theses and Dissertations

This section publishes outstanding undergraduate theses (Skripsi), master's theses (Tesis), and doctoral dissertations (Disertasi) that have been revised into publishable scholarly works. Submissions must demonstrate originality, academic rigor, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope. All manuscripts are subject to editorial screening and peer review to ensure compliance with international publication standards and research ethics.

Letters to the Editor

This section publishes scholarly letters that provide constructive comments, critical discussions, or responses to articles previously published in Universal Journal, as well as brief communications on emerging issues relevant to the journal's scope. Letters should be concise, evidence-based, respectful, and supported by appropriate references. The Editor-in-Chief may invite responses from the original authors when appropriate. All submissions are subject to editorial review and may undergo peer review if necessary.

Editorial

This section publishes editorials written by the Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editors, or members of the Editorial Board. Editorials provide perspectives on current research trends, emerging issues, journal developments, special issues, publication policies, and matters of interest to the scholarly community. Editorials are commissioned by the Journal and are generally not subject to external peer review unless otherwise determined by the Editor-in-Chief.

Peer Review Policy

Universal Journal 

1. Purpose
This peer review policy aims to ensure that all articles published in the journal undergo a rigorous and fair review process to maintain scientific quality and integrity.

2. Type of Peer Review
This journal uses a Double-Blind Peer Review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential from each other throughout the review process.

3. Peer Review Procedure

  • Article Submission:
    Articles submitted by authors will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief to ensure they are within the journal’s scope and meet the technical requirements.

  • Reviewer Assignment:
    Articles that pass the initial check will be sent to two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

  • Evaluation by Reviewers:
    Reviewers will assess the quality of the article based on the following criteria:

    • Originality: Does the article present new findings or insights?
    • Methodology: Are the research methods valid and appropriate?
    • Clarity: Is the article well-written and structured?
    • Relevance: Is the article relevant to the journal's scope?

  • Review Outcomes:
    Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

    • Accepted: The article is accepted without revision.
    • Accepted with Minor Revisions: The author is requested to make minor changes.
    • Accepted with Major Revisions: The author is requested to make significant changes before acceptance.
    • Rejected: The article does not meet the journal’s criteria and cannot be accepted.

  • Editor’s Decision:
    The Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision based on the reviewers' recommendations and the author’s revisions.

  • Revision and Resubmission:
    If revisions are requested, the author must submit the revised article within the specified timeframe, along with responses to the reviewers' comments.

4. Peer Review Ethics

  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the articles they review.
  • Reviewers must provide objective and honest evaluations.
  • Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

5. Peer Review Timeline
The peer review process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks from the time the article is accepted for review.

6. Appeals Against Decisions
Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions by providing valid arguments. Appeals will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief.
