Introduction

Universal Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered unethical and unacceptable.

All manuscripts submitted to Universal Journal are screened for plagiarism before entering the peer review process.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

Copying text without proper citation.
Presenting another person's ideas as one's own.
Using figures, tables, or images without permission or attribution.
Copying substantial parts of previously published work.
Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication without proper disclosure.

Similarity Checking

All submitted manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software before editorial review.

The Editorial Office evaluates similarity reports carefully. A high similarity percentage does not automatically indicate plagiarism; however, inappropriate copying may lead to rejection.

Acceptable Similarity

The Journal generally expects manuscripts to demonstrate a low level of textual similarity after excluding:

Editorial judgment will determine whether the manuscript meets the Journal’s originality requirements.

Editorial Action

If plagiarism is detected, the Editor may:

Request manuscript revision.
Request clarification from the authors.
Reject the manuscript.
Retract a published article if plagiarism is discovered after publication.

Serious Misconduct

The following are regarded as serious publication misconduct:

Fabrication of data.
Falsification of research findings.
Citation manipulation.
Duplicate publication.
Ghost authorship.
Undisclosed use of another person's work.

Serious cases may be reported to the authors' institutions where appropriate.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must:

Submit original work.
Properly acknowledge all sources.
Obtain permission for copyrighted materials where necessary.
Ensure that all quotations are correctly cited.
Avoid redundant publication.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors shall:

Investigate suspected plagiarism.
Maintain confidentiality during investigations.
Make decisions based on evidence.
Preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are encouraged to report any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices identified during peer review.

Where plagiarism is identified after publication, Universal Journal may publish:

to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.

Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions related to plagiarism by submitting a written explanation and supporting evidence to the Editorial Office.

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect international standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
