Corrections, Errata and Retractions Policy

Universal Journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. When errors or ethical concerns are identified, the journal will take appropriate action through corrections, errata, expressions of concern, or retractions.

Effective Date: August 2026

1. Purpose

This policy establishes procedures for correcting the published scholarly record in accordance with international publishing standards.

2. Corrections

Minor errors that do not affect the scientific validity of an article may be corrected through a Correction Notice.

Examples include:

  • Author affiliation errors.
  • Typographical mistakes.
  • Formatting errors.
  • Incorrect contact information.

3. Errata

An Erratum may be issued when errors introduced during editing or production affect the accuracy of the published article.

4. Corrigenda

A Corrigendum may be published when authors identify significant errors in their own published work that require correction but do not invalidate the overall conclusions.

5. Expressions of Concern

The journal may publish an Expression of Concern if there is evidence of potential research misconduct while an investigation is ongoing.

6. Retractions

An article may be retracted when:

  • Research misconduct is confirmed.
  • Data fabrication or falsification is identified.
  • Plagiarism is detected.
  • Duplicate publication has occurred.
  • Serious ethical violations are confirmed.
  • The findings are proven to be unreliable.

7. Editorial Process

All correction or retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief following consultation with the Editorial Board and, where appropriate, the authors and reviewers.

8. Transparency

Correction notices, errata, and retraction notices will remain permanently available and linked to the original article to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

9. Compliance with International Standards

Universal Journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding corrections and retractions.
