. Distance education or long-distance learning is the education of students who may not always be physically present at a school.Traditionally, this usually involved correspondence courses wherein the student corresponded with the school via post. Today it involves online education. Courses that are conducted (51 percent or more)are either hybrid, blended 100% distance learning. UIPM, offering large-scale interactive participation and open access through the World Wide Web or other network technologies, are recent developments in distance education.A number of other terms (distributed learning, e-learning, online learning, virtual classroom etc.) are used roughly synonymously with distance education. The main objective in this method is for those who are busy working and in locations that cannot be reached to conduct real studies. They have enough educational activities where they are in an online learning system. Like students who live in various countries that are impossible to study real outside their very far country. Because by using this method, students will penetrate space and time indefinitely and get efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility from various factors that will obviously take time and cost of learning which is very expensive, but with the method of online learning can provide all the convenience or called Disruptive, is a breakthrough that addresses difficult problems easily.

Distance E-learning is a 100 percent college activity using an online learning system, never requiring campus real. The campus is in cyberspace. no need to spend a lot of money to build campus buildings in the real world. Unlimited reach, everyone in all corners of the world can conduct lectures simultaneously and interact with each other in cyberspace using secondlife software. Secondlife is specifically designed for the needs of activities in cyberspace. Makes it easy for students to study together with students around the world without going to campus locations, because the campus is in cyberspace. Academic Standards in the study program refer to the European Distance E-learning Network and are accredited by the International Accreditation Institute named UAPCU and EDEN.

EDEN as a center for standardization of international study programs specifically for online learning education. This standardization is used by the whole world of specialized online learning colleges. UIPM is included in the list of full online colleges or 100 online learning at EDEN.

About SLPs

Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) or short degree programmes are a group of courses (units, modules or other learning building blocks) with a common subject focussing on specific needs in society and which are part of larger degrees. Different typologies and names exist throughout Europe.

Level

European Qualification Framework (EQF)
ranging from foundation to doctoral level (4 to 8)

Recognition and accreditation

Recognising SLP qualifications as part of wider degree programmes. Such that these qualifications are compliant with the (renewed) EQF as well as with quality assurance and accreditation procedures

Relation to formal degrees

SLPs must be regarded as building blocks to formal degrees

Target groups

Mainly non-traditional learners and adult learners, who combine work and study or learn for personal development

Online and blended

The E-SLP project will mainly focus on flexible online/blended SLPs

Flexibility and scalability

Implementation of flexible and scalable SLPs as main part of continuing education/continuous professional development and lifelong learning policies. Flexibility by for example responses to market, flexible building blocks to degrees, openness, non-stop enrolment, flexible learning paths, asynchronous, etc. and scalability by progressive accreditation, massive audience, easy context adaptation, etc.

Society and Market driven

  • responding to the demand of large numbers of students for a shorter study
  • responding to immediate economic knowledge and skills requirements in enterprises, to cultural, social and environmental needs and personal development in society
  • responding to the needs of large numbers of learners for continuous education and continuous professional development and innovation in enterprises

Micro-credentials

Universal Institute of Professional Management part of EDEN used Micro-credentials : With the advent of the technology age, employers must ensure that their teams are fully equipped with a combination of both hard and soft skills. These soft skills are constantly evolving, and not covered by more traditional, University style qualifications. Micro-credentials fully embrace this need for more fluid, multidisciplinary skill sets, for both employers and employees.

Micro-credentials are certification-style qualifications that individuals choose to study to improve or develop a skill found in a particular industry area. This type of credential is typically short, low-cost, and Overall, micro-credentials hold authority in the professional landscape as they help candidates to stand out in the recruitment process and enhance employability potential, and offer a narrow skill to an industry-area that is valued by employers.

Micro-credentials are a competency-based digital form of certification. They can be issued for formal and informal professional learning experiences that support educators developing skills and acquiring knowledge to improve professional practice that supports student success. Educators identify a competency they want to develop, submit evidence that they have mastered the competency, and receive a digital badge once the evidence is approved.

Micro-credentials can be developed by non-profit and for profit entities or developed by educators. Where the association is the exclusive bargaining representative, the terms and conditions for a micro-credential program should be negotiated.Micro-credentials are a digital form of certification indicating demonstrated competency/mastery in a specific skill or set of skills.

Now more than ever before, the job market has an urgency for Micro-Credentials. These mini qualifications and learning experiences are fast becoming essential to professional skill sets, with 95% of HR Managers now actively seeking micro-credentials from potential candidates.

Educational disruption

With graduation season upon us, it’s important to remember that as a manager you must often be a teacher too. A major part of your role is instruction — which means that you need to pay attention to the massive disruption going on in higher education and what it means for company learning.   The most visible part of educational disruption is the proliferation of online learning through MOOCs, or massive, open, online courses. These programs, sponsored by elite universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, and Wesleyan, have enrolled thousands of students around the world in high-level courses developed by top-notch faculty. And although the dropout rate is high, the business model is uncertain, and learning outcomes are not yet clear, these MOOC’s are rapidly evolving new technologies that will certainly change the higher education landscape, and dramatically increase access to learning.

The main purpose

The main objective of the education method possessed by UIPM (Universal Institute of Professional Management is to create professional undergraduate scholarships through independent study in conducting educational activities. UIPM is very selective in finding students to join in advancing international education, so UIPM only provides opportunities to professionals who are experts in their respective fields to participate in advancing international education. because in their hands this method can be done independently with a system called the Learning Management System (LMS), and will be applied properly and correctly. An example of a medical doctor and a professional graphic designer will be easy to follow the method of independent learning online learning, because they already have medical science equipment that all patients have recognized their expertise in treating various common ailments, and a graphic designer who opens a business or advertising worker indeed it has been trusted by Executive Director of his company to design a quality product for advertising products. So of course they are very easy to take majors that are in accordance with their respective fields in UIPM, so they deserve to get a degree that suits their expertise and can provide quality education in UIPM.

Target

UIPM provides various majors / study programs in accordance with the profession carried out by professionals, which are packaged in study programs: Bachelor, Master to Doctoral degree. So it is not surprising that graduates from UIPM come from qualified people, according to the motto: “Life becomes Better Life”, so that they can raise their own rank, existence of UIPM , and of course in the world of education. Besides that, UIPM is looking for autodidacts that have succeeded in creating or discovering knowledge that does not yet exist in the academic world, because from new scientific discoveries, directly or indirectly they have contributed to academic disciplines. Therefore, the discovery of knowledge that has been recognized by the public and the professors is an absolute requirement to obtain an Academic Degree at UIPM.
